Sneak away to this classic and cozy creek-front home where you're sure to find something for everyone in your family or travel group. This two-story vacation rental is right on Fightingtown Creek and features a nicely-equipped, island kitchen with a breakfast bar, a dining table for meals or family game nights, and a living area with plenty of comfortable seating, a wood-burning fireplace, cable-equipped, flatscreen TV, and a desk and chair if you need to do a little work or remote schooling while you're away. On the lower level of this home, you'll find a recreation room with an additional TV and seating area, a game table, a minifridge, and access out to the furnished patio. Head outside and up one level to the wraparound deck with a porch swing, picnic table, and gas grill for summertime family cookouts! Take a short stroll down to the water's edge, or gather together in the yard and watch the stars come out in the glow of the firepit.

While you're only six miles from the heart of town, this creek-front home has a distinctly secluded feel to it - perfect for anyone seeking a little peace and quiet. Bear Claw Vineyards & Winery is less than three miles from your door, however, if you prefer cider, Mercier Orchards provides year-round fun (and fried pies) just six miles from this property. Less than 10 miles east, Lake Blue Ridge Marina offers pontoon boat rentals for exciting days on the water, or you can paddle out for restful days at your own pace in a kayak or canoe. For even more outdoor fun, the Ocoee Whitewater Center, where guests can hike to the famous suspension bridge, is just 22 miles north.

THINGS TO KNOW

Peaceful setting on creek
Great place to chill and relax with our pet. Older decor but we're up there for the outside, not the inside. Will stay again.

not worth the money paid
There were ants in he kitchen and small gnats flying around, The interior is dark and dated with some elements in bad need of replacement or repair (bedroom shades, queen mattresses, oven handle). The screen doors are misaligned which may allow bugs to enter and the deck areas were not swept clean. There was alot of dog hair on the rug on the back deck.

Some pros & cons
This cabin has a very rustic feel. They house was overall very dark, but had plenty of lamps although the bulbs could be brighter. Nice kitchen supplies, but nowhere to store food. We had to keep food on the kitchen table which means we couldn't eat on the table or use it for games. Ants also got in the food and we had to throw some away. The upstairs was clean and comfortable. The downstairs was a different matter. The downstairs bed sheets had not been washed and changed. The downstairs had a smell, cobwebs in the bathroom and the downstairs just had a dirty feel. The dresser was literally falling apart. Upstairs bedroom fan didn't work which meant we had to use the downstairs bedroom anyway. The hot tub had a strange smell, but worked. Only one person in our group would use it. The upstairs living room was very comfortable and the porch was very nice with plenty of sitting area. The creek can be heard from the porch which was so nice. Easy access to the creek. The cabin is on a very quiet street. The location is great. Kayaking on the river is 10 minutes away. Same for town, restaurants and shopping.

Pretty good
The house was ok, there was ants in the kitchen but that was nothing more then just an annoyance. The hot tub had a smell but we personally have one as well and understand that is just a chemical issue and easy fix. The property is what made it, when we weren't out exploring the local hikes we were by the creek! It was awesome!

Disappointed
Upon arrival we checked the temperature of the hot tub. While it was cool, I knew it had just been changed so we waited and rechecked the next morning. Still cold. I messaged and no response. I messaged ag as in and no response. Finally, on day 3 I called and a work order was put in. Noone ever called or came. Had I known this we would have rented a different house. The house needs some updating and access to the creek could be cleaner and more accessible. We will not be returning. This is the first house we have rented that we were not completely satisfied with.

Family vacation
This was a much needed trip to heal and be thankful. We have survived Covid and I myself spent 6 weeks in hospital with Covid double Pneumonia. This cabin was perfect, so quiet and relaxing. Everyone had enough space to relax and grandkids loved the hot tub.

Cute Cozy Cabin
This cabin was cute and cozy and close to downtown blue ridge. Our boys loved having their own “apartment” downstairs.

Where to begin
The location was great, loved being able to hear the creek while enjoying coffee on the porch in the mornings. The drive was easy, the circular driveway is tight for a big truck (Chevy 2500) and the tree branches need trimming as they left some scratches on the truck from getting in and out of the property. The inside was cute and cozy, but not a great place for an active toddler. The stairway to the basement was not baby gate friendly and the bannisters at the top were wide enough for her to fall through, so we had to block that off for safety. There was a pretty annoying ant problem in the kitchen area on the counter between the stove and fridge. The path down to the creek was much steeper than what the pictures show and no easy way to access the water, which was disappointing as I rented this particular cabin hoping I could the the little one go down and splash around in the creek for fun. The basement is damp and when we tried to turn on the dehumidifier it leaked all over the floor. All in all, if we had older kids or just adults I would rent again, but not recommended for anyone with small children.

Great retreat
I booked this as a retreat to get some work done. The place couldn’t have been more perfect. The sound of the river from the house was extra soothing, the WiFi worked even down at the river, so I was able to work right by the water. I also got to head to downtown Blueridge for shipping and meals, a very short drive away. Since I was working, I didn’t do any outdoor activities, but I did note, for future trips, just how close those activities were to the house. I’ll definitely try this place again!

Cozy mountain cabin - great family getaway
Very nice/clean traditional mountain cabin. The house is easy to find and within a 10 minute drive of Blue Ridge. The house is relatively close to neighbors but is quiet. It sits on a nice a wooded lot overlooking the upper reaches of Fightingtown creek. The water is rarely over a few feet deep which makes it nice to hike up and down stream. Though it is a small creek we did manage to catch a few small trout, the biggest of which was about 12" in length. The walkway/stairs down to the creek is new and relatively easy to climb. The house has a decent sized covered porch over looking the creek. A picnic table on the porch is great for outdoor meals. There is a new grill as well as a small fire pit. The electric reclining couches in the family room are very comfortable. The kitchen is on the small size but is well appointed. There isn't a distinct inside dining area but between a small table near the couches and kitchen island there is enough room for eight people to eat. The downstairs family room is roomy and opens up to the lower porch with a hot tub. The internet speed is adequate but there is little to none ATT cell coverage. The only issues are the décor is just a bit dated/worn and the main living area is a bit dark, primarily due to dark paneled walls. And, the beds are a bit soft. We believe this is a new listing and with a few more touches (it's obvious the owners/management/housekeeping are working to get it updated) would be a five-star rental. We'd rent again...nice and comfy, especially for the price point. With a few more finishing touches, it would be perfect!
