I love Candlewood Suites on Inverness, in Birmingham AL. The rooms are clean and DON’T smell like cigarettes. They are very nice, and the kitchen in the suites have been updated.

Convention location for long-term stay
The hotel is in a very convenient location. The beds are average but I do like they provide 4-5 pillows per bed. We came for a girls’ weekend, needing convenience and safety. This hotel is better suited for long-term stays since it comes with a full fridge, dishwasher, and other kitchen amenities. My complaints are the room units need a switch to keep the fan running instead of kicking on and off. That kept us awake. You could also hear the elevator all night, again, the white noise from a constant fan would have prevented any outside noises. I forgot my toothbrush and they were out. This I don't fault them for just because it was during the time of Hurricane Milton so they might have given away all of them. But still would think they should have had plenty.

Our hallway was almost unwalkable because of the smell of cigarette smoke. I told the guy at the front desk after checkin & he brushed it off. The next morning I told her that within just a few minutes in our room we could also smell it in our room & 3/4 of our family members have asthma, so it made for a rough night. Her response— well they will get charged a $300 fee. I said well that’s great for y’all to be able to hopefully clean it, but not for your other guests who had to suffer through it all night. She wasn’t rude, however she also didn’t apologize & nor did the guy the night before. The room was nice, but we will never stay again since they didn’t seem to take the smoking concern seriously.

I was very happy with my short stay.
Checked in pretty late 7 pm ish.. Traffick on 280 was terrible..that is a mess...but checked in and found our room. It was clean, smelled fresh. Water faucet in kitchen leaked a little but kitchenette was nice. Beds were ok.. I was hoping for better but could have been much worst. Hallways a little noisy at first but things settled down. The room was nice. Carpets were clean everything checked ok on my list. In the morning I was pleasently surprised that the location was very sweet..up in the mountains. The morning was cool and the cardinals were jumping from car to car..I didnt want to go home.. very nice property..I would have loved to stay another night but was in a hurry to get home to Florida after Hurricane Helene. We will try to swing back in here... maybe stay a few days.Whataburger is right there and a gas station..
