About this property

Banach Lake Campsite on Burnett County Forest

This campsite is nestled in 1,500 acres of the Burnett County Forest. About 8 miles from Webster, you will find a small parking lot at the public access on Banach Lake. Get to the campsite one of two ways: launch your small boat or canoe and head about 300 yards southwest on the lake; or if boating isn’t your thing, you will walk around the gate and hike or bike about 1/2 mile to your secluded destination! You cannot drive a vehicle in, so be prepared for some solitude and nature!
The space
You have found a rustic campsite for your tent on Banach Lake in the Burnett County Forest in Northwestern Wisconsin! There is no motorized access to this campsite as it is accessible by foot, bike, or boat only (you are able to use a motor on your boat).

No electricity or potable water is available. There is a tent pad, fire ring, picnic table, and primitive pit toilet. You may use 1-2 tents with a maximum of 6 people staying on the site.

You must bring your own tent and supplies, (including toilet paper). This listing is for a site only. No water is available, you must carry in your own.

You may have a maximum of 2 shelters, with a maximum of 6 people total at this campsite. The camping shelter(s) must be occupied daily and may not be vacated overnight or stored onsite.

Besides the many woods trails available near your site for biking or hiking, there are 5 miles of established single track mountain bike trails found just off of the campsite. Banach Lake is a 15 acre lake with a maximum depth of 40 feet. If you care to fish, you will find trout and panfish!

You are in bear country! Be sure to clean up after your meals so as not to attract any unwanted, big or little, furry visitors.

Enjoy picking berries, mushrooms, tree seeds, or other edible fruits during their seasons! Just note that collection must not damage the plants or the natural features of the land. Digging or removal of plants, trees, or other vegetation without written permission from Burnett County is prohibited.

Mosquitos, ticks, and bees do exist. Hearing loons, owls, coyotes, and other wildlife at night is quite common.

Please use the "Leave No Trace" camping principles and take out everything you carry in, picking up all trash (including cigarette butts).

Campfires must be in the campfire ring. Campfires are not allowed when there is a Red Flag Alert in the county. All fires must be extinguished and cool enough to touch with your hand before leaving the campsite. YOU are responsible if your campfire gets away and are liable for all expenses incurred in suppressing the fire and will be responsible for all damages caused by the fire.

Camping and campfires are not allowed when County or State Emergency Fire Regulations are in effect. Burnett County reserves the right to suspend all camping reservations during this period.

Reserving this campsite allows for collection of dead and down vegetation for campfires within the fire ring in the permitted area. But, such dead vegetation may not be removed from the immediate area itself. This shall not be construed to permit harvest of vegetation otherwise controlled. This does not allow cutting of any living trees or shrubs.

Children must be supervised at all times.

We are not liable for injuries.

Burnett County Forest Land is open to the public for hunting (when in season), hiking, etc. There is a possibility that you may encounter others enjoying the outdoors during your stay. Please be aware that on occasion one of our volunteers may stop by to do the regularly scheduled cleaning of the pit toilet during your stay.
Other things to note
The next closest designated campsite is located through the woods, approximately 1 mile away. There are three other campsites in the area that have access to the same woods trails for hiking and biking. You are camping on Burnett County Forest Land, which is public land. You may encounter others hiking, biking, hunting or fishing.
During your stay at this vacation home, you'll be close to Shallow Lake.
