You Get What You Pay For
I was amazed when I found this room for $78+tax close to downtown Austin. Some of the online reviews scared me but honestly, it was one night and worse case, I could eat the $93 and stay elsewhere. This is an OLD property. The age is showing everywhere but not in a gross or tawdry way. You can just tell that every carpet needs to be replaced, every wall painted, and every tile grouted. The Good: Room was fine Bed comfortable Clean and No sign of bugs Close to highway and restaurants The Not So Good: 1 Elevator out of service (been a while based on reviews) Remaining elevator sounds like it needs help. Towels need to be replaced - not dirty, just small and getting very thin Breakfast was very low level. Appropriate for snacking only Front Desk didn't tell you how to access the WiFi - you use the conference room WiFi not the more obvious guest Readily accessible outlets by desk did not work Bath amenities were not good - had to ask for more soap since the one bar was wafer thin. Smelly trash left by elevators entire stay. Double room had two full-size beds; not queens. Fine for two adults sharing the room but not four. Overall: Fine for a short stay when you're on a budget.

My husband is traveling nurse who works 3 shifts a week in Austin. This week my 1 yr old son and I traveled with him. Upon entering our room, I thought I smelled a must but my husband did not. By our second morning the smell became apparent, it was definitely a mild smell. Luckily I already covered the sofa with sheets as to not let my son have direct contact. I am pretty sure they attempted to steam clean the sofa without letting it properly dry. Later on that day, the fire alarm sounded off. We were outside for roughly an hour before we were let back into our room. There was no explanation as to why or what happened. After this we packed up and left. We did not even stay for the additional night we paid for. After 2 attempts of waiting at the front desk to speak to someone, I just left. I assuming they must take their break with no one to cover them, this happened at check in as well. We stayed at another Sonesta in Austin previously and had a great experience. This location needs a serious revamp.

The only bad thing was the elevators. Only 1 was working, and the 1 that was working had a foul odor in it every time we used it.

Tolerable.
Shower head was hanging off the spout. Found a roach on countertop. Comforter and mattress topper looked like it hadn’t been washed in weeks. Comfortable bed though. Not an awful stay. Just some guys so we tolerate more than most.

I wish I could go back and just listen to the bad reviews on here. Thankfully, we only stayed here a night. As soon as we walked in my 2 year old niece said “caca.” It smells terrible, our clothes smelled terrible after staying here. Please save your money. This was not worth $150 a night.
