room is large and nicely decorated, lots of dead flies on window. the shower was either too hot to the point of scolding or freezing cold, very difficult to regulate. Electric Towel radiator connection broke , revealing bare wires. limited hot water for the bath. Car parking at rear of hotel very limited and extremely tight. stairway to rooms feels dated and not helpful for people who are disabled, the hotel was locked at 11 pm on a Saturday night , bar was closed ,the menu is very basic. on the good side the staff are very polite and helpful. breakfast was good. the downstairs bars and other rooms are nicely decorated .

I found this to be a strange little hotel. It is an odd design with some rooms that are located outside of the main building. This necessitates walking some distance on the main street and several flights of stairs. Reception is not 24 hours so this is not ideal for late arrivals or early departures as it means walking on your own for some distance in the middle of night. The main good thing about the hotel is the friendly and accommodating staff.

My welcome at the hotel was excellent, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, even walking me to the door to explain how to access part of the hotel. Breakfast was great and again very friendly staff. It was available at the time I booked it. I would come back. Thanks for making me so welcome.

Lovely hotel, in the centre of town, with free parking. Only complaint is the bed was pretty hard, but I agree it’s a matter of personal taste.

Lovely Pub
Was the hottest day of the year so far and my room was west facing with no air-con. Luckily someone had opened the windows and provided a fan, but still it was a bit warm. The restaurant and bar area are nicely laid out and the menu had some great choices on the specials board. I will certainly be back when the weather is cooler!

This is our 2nd stay at the Red Lion. On this cccasion we were in the annexe. Although the room was ok, it was of a lower quality of the room we’d had in the main hotel. The communal hallway was grubby and tired looking and we could hear low level noise from adjacent rooms. We were a little disappointed. The food however was of a high quality, as it always has been.
