Andover, ME House
At the last minute we looked for a two- night rental during Christmas week 2022 so we could ski at Sunday River. This was one of the few listings remaining for our dates. The house was about 25 min drive North from Sunday River, but we didn’t really mind it. The house was clean, warm (aesthetically and temperature-wise), and cozy. The one bathroom served our group of three (two adults/one teen) just fine and shower had good pressure and nice hot water. The kitchen had everything we needed and was very clean. The two queen beds were comfortable and there was plenty of drawer and closet space in the bedrooms. The room off the kitchen contains one twin bed and a washer and dryer. We did not utilize this. The main door enters directly into the kitchen and there was no mat upon which to wipe our feet or place our shoes/boots. We really didn’t want to track in muddy snow, even for 1-2 feet, but it was unavoidable The next day, the owner put a boot mat in the kitchen. A few criticisms must be mentioned. All of the interior doors are thin hollow wood so don’t expect to have any privacy in the bathroom or otherwise. The bathroom exhaust fan is very loud . This is a plus if you’re looking to drown out noise while in the bathroom, but may wake a family member if used in the middle of the night. There is no shade or curtain covering the bathroom window or one of the large street facing windows in the living room. Upon arrival we asked the owner if she had one we could hang. We were told we could hang a towel up if we wanted. There were only four bath towels and my daughter needed two, so there were none to spare. Upon our return the next day, a thin 1/2 curtain had been hung in the living room. Overall, the rental was fine for our two night stay.

Just okay
Place is literally in the middle of nowhere. General store across the street for vary basic stuff otherwise, plan ahead and make a grocery to cover your stay and minimize driving for food. Old church with bell tower ringing 24/7 nearby. Not the best place to hang out. BBQ grill in need of some love. Many burnt lights in the house. Fan and light above stove top not connected and not working. Neon light above kitchen sink burnt. Kind of dark in the kitchen to see what you are doing when cooking at night. No garbage bins outside of the house to take garbage out when checking out despite this being listed as a requirement. Emailed owner of property for advices, no feedback. On the bright side, 1 to 1.5 hours away from many of the white mountain peaks. About 25 minutes of drive from Bethel where you can get food, restaurants, brew pubs, liquor store, etc. Place remains functional. Hood is quiet bell tower aside. Would book again in the end but owner could make small improvements that would not be very expensive to implement and that would make a big difference to visitors.

Perfect for us
It was even nicer than the pictures. The market was walkable and the town was peaceful.
